Dear Mr. Bevins,
I am extremely disappointed that the 2004 Powell Township Planning Commission approved the Conditional Use Permit for a 12 unit site condominium.
This decision should be rescinded forthe following reasons:
Inappropriate density compared to adjacent and proximate properties;
A conditional use permit is the same as spot zoning;
Incompatible land use with the natural environment of the site and the general character of the area;
Impact on tourism with the loss of the ½ mile lake shore public access and the one- mile wooded nature trail that makes the Big Bay Point Lighthouse unique in the world;
Environmental impact of the 10,000-square-foot absorption field and 14 septic tanks required to support the proposed high density population;
Developer involvement for three years on the township planning commission, during which time zoning changes favorable to this proposed development were made.
