Below please find a copy of a letter sent from Mr. Bob Christensen, National Register Coordinator, Michigan State Historic Preservation Office, to Powell Township. A copy of the official letter should be posted on our web site later this evening.
This letter should help illustrate the difference between private property ownership and the same ownership coupled with the stewardship and care that go along with historic property.
It also illustrates the difference between an owner who sacrificed and continues to sacrifice a great deal of time and personal expense to keep the property safe and attractive for many visitors and years, and developers who are generally more interested in profit.
